Custom guitar pedals built with precision and passion.
Custom guitar pedals built with precision and passion.
Please allow me to introduce myself: I’m Greg, the person behind Axewerx. My 8yr old son took this photo of me in a burger joint.
The backstory: I’ve been a music lover all my life, having picked up the guitar when I was 13 (and then never really put it down). I spent 15 years in the music industry based out of Toronto, working everywhere from Metalworks Studios to Warner Music Canada and Last Gang Records. Eventually, I found myself working at a web development studio, solving problems in the realm of voltages, ones and zeros.
I leaned into my obsession with guitar gear — not just collecting it, but also understanding how it all worked. In 2024, I made it my resolution to GO FOR IT. I skipped kits and dove straight into sourcing components for a 6-band graphic EQ. I transitioned into laying out custom stripboard builds, designing my own PCBs in KiCAD, and learning everything from Affinity to Inkscape in the pursuit of custom graphics. I even built this website.
I’m now selling my first pedal, The Gain Chain, and have it stocked in a local guitar shop as well as available online. I've also managed to get my pedal into the hands of some amazing early supporters, and honestly, that overwhelms me with joy and gratitude.
Right now, I’m breadboarding my second pedal design, experimenting and dialing it in. I’ve also started researching concepts for a third pedal, letting those ideas percolate while this journey with The Gain Chain continues to unfold.
If you follow along with me here, my goal is to make it worth your time: whether you're into tone chasing, DIY inspiration, build insights, or just want to see what’s possible when you follow a creative itch all the way through — I hope there’s something here for you.
Thanks for following along. Let’s see where this goes!
